Is Network RTK reliable enough for layout, grade checks, and machine guidance without a site base?
For most jobsites, Network RTK over mobile data provides stable centimeter positioning and eliminates base setup; a site base is useful only where coverage is poor, radios are mandated, or obstructions repeatedly break FIX. Daily control checks keep layout and machine guidance aligned to design.
Crews typically see about one to two centimeters horizontally when sky view is open, the mountpoint is nearby, and cellular latency is low. Verifying against control at the start of each shift, monitoring FIX status through the day, and selecting the closest mountpoint help maintain consistent results.
If your machine control or rover can consume NTRIP/RTCM, it can use RTKdata; many systems offer a “Network RTK” or “NTRIP” input in their controller settings.
